Engineering students residence

The Maison des Mines et des Ponts is the Parisian residence for students from the following 3 engineering schools:
The Ecole des Mines de Paris, member of the Université Paris Sciences et Lettres ‘’PSL’’,
 The Ecole des Ponts ParisTech,
l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Techniques Avancées ‘’ENSTA Paris’’

The MdMP is reserved from September to June for Parisian students from these three Schools.

A good half of these students stay on site during the summer holidays, in particular to do internships in companies.

Accommodation opened during summer to foreign students

The Maison des Mines et des Ponts is opened all year round and welcomes other students than those of the 3 engineering schools, students of preparatory classes during their oral competitive exams, interns and young foreigners from June to September for stays of 1 week to 3 months.

Each summer we welcome several hundred foreigners.

Antoine Battistelli, Head of the Maison des Mines et des Ponts

The Maison des Mines et des Ponts completed a cycle of expansion and updates in 2021.

The extension has resulted in an increase in the number of beds, both in the residence and in the other close building.

The building has been optimized with the relocation of the director’s service apartment and its transformation into 6 bedrooms on the 1st floor (in 2016), with the redefinition of the technical facilities on the ground floor (2 bedrooms in 2019) and the elevation (5 bedrooms in 2021).

The MdMP has 3 adjoining apartments, 2 in the 5th district, one purchased by the management association at 13 rue des lyonnais (5 bedrooms in 2017), the other by the Fondation Mines Paris (6 bedrooms in 2018), and 1 in the 15th district (2 bedrooms). In total, these 26 new rooms in 5 years represent 47 additional beds.

The Maison des Mines et des Ponts has an APL (Personalized Housing Assistance) agreement since 1993 and an amendment was signed on January 14th 2021 to properly cover the 44 new beds, and as a total number of 437 (including 1 for the disabled, which means 435 beds with no equipment for the disabled).

The Maison des Mines et des Ponts has also become a student accommodation, in accordance with the Equality and Citizenship law n°2017-86.

For us, asking for a room at the MdMP at the beginning of our studies seemed like a good choice even though we had never set foot there thanks to the attractive rents for the 5th district and the promise of a community life.

After a few weeks of stay, we quickly understood how much this choice had been more than beneficial, and it is now clear that our student life owes a lot to the MdMP.

Indeed, what would be better than having in the same building rooms to make music, sports, watch movies, meet and even wash your laundry?

You are always sure to find someone enthusiastic for any activity, and the planning of the associations takes full advantage of the potential of the accommodation. The great hall in the basement can be used for all types of gatherings: shows, films, parties, sport.

The Maison des Mines et des Ponts has the status of Student Accommodation (in accordance with the Law Equality and Citizenship n°2017-86), and a double legal structure:

The company HLM, owner of the double building, is chaired by Christian MICHAUD.

The management association, chaired by Antoine BATTISTELLI, manages the double building and the three adjoining apartments, located in the 5th district (13 rue des Lyonnais and 31 boulevard Saint-Germain) and in the 15th district (15 boulevard Lefebvre)..

The management association is headed by Jean-Pascal GUILPART, assisted by Aline LAURIER, executive assistant, and Franck WYNHANT, technical head of maintenance. It includes a team of maintenance workers and watchmen.
